HELP: - for all Service Providers


TO LIST YOUR EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM:

  •  Once your program has been entered, you will be emailed confirmation so you can review the listing.
  • You will also have a program reference # to quote whenever you need your program listing updated.  Please always quote the program's ref# when requesting changes or deletion, as it ensures the correct program is updated or deleted.
  • If you forget the ref#, it's under the Map/Direction line in the full view of program listing.

  • If you're unsure of how much information to send, check out similar programs already listed. 

  • Your description may be edited but you have final approval.

Service Provider Website - so a direct link can be installed

Specify whether program is federally or provincially funded & in which Region (usually same as program location)

  • Service Canada regions: Abbotsford, Burnaby-New Westminster, North Fraser-Coquitlam, North Shore, Surrey-Langley, Vancouver-Richmond;
  • MHR regions:  Fraser, Vancouver Coastal

Program Start & End Dates & program length - this appears on the program listing

Classification of Program (Job Search, Career Planning and Assessment, Youth, Special Program, etc.)

WELCOME PAGE – FUNCTION KEYS

New Programs:

  1. Search for New Programs - lets the user to search for new programs that have been added or updated by either:
    • the last time you looked;
    • a choice of time periods.
  2. New Programs - lists the new/updated programs,
    • first in time sequence (most recent first) and secondly, within each date, by alphabetically listed program titles.
  3. Mark Read - allows you to:
    • delete all the new programs listed, when you have finished viewing them, or,
    • check the box of selected programs to only delete those selected -  the unchecked programs will remain listed until you decide to delete them from the list.
     

Search Programs > by Provider:

  1. Search Programs – clicking on just this button will let you key in:
    • the kind of program desired, in either all regions or one chosen from the drop down menu, which lists the federal (Service Canada) and provincial (MHR) regions;
    • a specific program title in either all regions, or one chosen from the drop down menu.
    • If you do not specify any program or category or region, then click on Search, all the programs in all categories and regions will then be listed in program title alphabetically.
  2. Search Results – will either bring up the program(s) specified, or will state There are no programs to display.  Recheck the title and spelling and try again.  If this message reappears then that program is not in the database.
  3. by Provider – clicking on this button will result in an alphabetical list of all the Service Providers.  You can then click on the box(es) of the one(s) you want to view, then scroll down and click on View to see the list of the programs that/those Service Provider(s) offer.

Federal Government Programs:

  • This section will display all the Human Resources and Skills Development (Service Canada) regions in the lower mainland, plus the Show All button. 
  • Clicking on any of these regions will allow you to pick a category from a list of types of programs available.  When you click on a program category, a short list of those programs available in that region will appear.  You can then click on as many of the programs you want to further research, then scroll down and click on View to have the full description of the program(s) appear.
  • However, if you click on Show All, and then on your choice of program type, it will list all those kinds of programs in all the Service Canada regions.  You can then choose to view all or any of the programs in which you are interested, by clicking in the box of each program and then scrolling down and clicking on View.

Career Planning Start Dates:

  • Career Planning programs (one week or longer) are listed alphabetically by Program Title, under specified cities listed alphabetically, with their start and end dates.
  • Every possible attempt is made to keep these dates up to date.

Job Club Start Dates:

  • Job Club/Search programs (one week or longer) are listed:
    • alphabetically by Program Title, under specified cities listed alphabetically, with their start & end dates.
  • Every possible attempt is made to keep these dates up to date.

Provincial Government Programs:

  • This button will display all the Ministry of Human Resources (MHR) regions in the lower mainland, plus the Show All button. 
  • Clicking on any of these regions will allow you to pick a category from a list of types of programs available.  When you click on a program category, a short list of those programs available in that region will appear.  You can then click on as many of the programs you want to further research, then scroll down and click on View to have the full description of the program(s) appear.

Resource Partners:

  • Clicking on this button will give you the following list of categories from which to choose. 
  • Each website listed has a link you can click on, to go directly to that website.
  • A Visit to Your Local Service Canada Centre

– lists all the local Service Canada centres, including which municipalities each covers and a direct link to each office’s website.

  • Career Development – lists Career Development related websites.
  • Community Resources – lists such lower mainland resource websites, such as Vancouver’s The Red Book.
  • Employment Opportunities – lists websites, such as the Service Canada Job Bank, that allow you to job search and/or post your resume.
  • Government Web Sites – lists federal government websites related to employment, education & financing, such as Service Canada &Industry Training (Apprenticeship).
  • Labour Market Information – lists various websites that have useful on-line labour market and career information for job-seekers and practitioners.
  • Youth – lists sites specifically designed to help Youth in planning & reaching their education and/or employment goals, including youth employment initiatives.
  • Show All – lists all the websites of the above seven categories, in alphabetical order.

    • Help for all website users – gives instructions on how to navigate the website in order to find what you want.
    • Help for Service Providers – gives instructions to Service Providers as to the criteria and information required to have their programs listed in the website.
  3. The FAQ section lists commonly asked questions and their answers.

 


F.A.Q.'s:


1) I am wondering where on your website am I able to order more of the “Looking for work, Do you need help" brochures? I was told they could be ordered on your website, I just can't find where! Thank you.

The brochure you're looking for is published by Service Canada, not by the LMER.CA website. To receive a copy, simply contact visit your nearest Service Canada office.

2) What kind of employment programs do you list?

Only federally or provincially funded employment programs in the Lower Mainland area can be listed in the www.lmer.ca website.

3) Is there a limit to how many employment programs a Service Provider can have listed?

There is no limit as to how many programs a Service Provider can have listed, provided they comply with the above criteria.

4) Is there a charge for listing our employment program(s) or for the direct link from the lmer.ca website to our [Service Provider’s] website?

Absolutely not. The service is funded by Service Canada.  Services such as the direct link to a program’s website, and program updating, are part of the LMER.CA Team’s commitment to make the website as user friendly and informative as possible for all concerned.
