    The Community Futures Development Corporations fosters entrepreneurship in rural B.C. by their ability to provide business loans to current or prospective entrepreneurs who may have had trouble accessing capital from traditional lenders. In addition to the general loan fund, the Community Futures Development Corporations have access to a number of specialized programs that target segments of the B.C. population that may face additional obstacles in securing business financing.

    This is a searchable database of community services & resources for the Downtown Eastside which covers training, employment, housing, and much more. On dtes.ca you can find a community calendar that lists many of the events, meetings, & happenings in the community, as well as a news page for updates & community stories. Still under development are the employment and the enterprise centre, which will support business development & training and employment development efforts in the area.

  • Francophone Economic Development Organizations (FEDO)

    In April 2001, Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) welcomed the four Francophone Economic Development Organizations (FEDOs) to the Western Canada Business Service Network. FEDOs enhance the vitality of minority language communities in Western Canada and assist in their economic development. These independent entities have their own boards of directors, knowledgeable about business as well as the challenges facing francophone entrepreneurs. Support from WD enables these regional organizations to provide enhanced services to Francophones including training, business & community economic development, access to capital, information services, marketing advice, networking and mentoring.
