The Youth Employment Strategy (YES) is the Government of Canada's commitment to help young people, particularly those facing barriers to employment, get the information and gain the skills, work experience & abilities they need to make a successful transition to the workplace. A national site, it outlines Service Canada's initiatives for youth, including Student Summer Job Action, Youth Internship Canada and Youth Service Canada. StudentAid BC is a joint program between the federal & provincial government. It was created to help eligible students with the costs of post-secondary studies at colleges, universities, university colleges, institutes and private training institutions. It is a needs-based program, which exists to supplement, not replace, funds available to students through work, savings/assets and family resources/income. A basic principle of BCSAP is that the primary responsibility for the funding of post-secondary education rests with students and their immediate families.
